POPPING CODE OF CONDUCT

Popping is the place where people share life, build community, and get real-time info about what’s happening around them. We want Popping to be a safe place for sharing, and we encourage the use of this platform to engage in enlightening, educational, and open-minded conversation.

 

These guidelines and policies apply to all content on Popping, and our users are expected to abide by them. When reviewing reported content, we consider its context and sentiment, and, where possible, intent. The consequences of violating of these policies can include content removal, account suspension or account termination.

 

We rely on our users to help us keep our Popping community safe. If you see behavior or content that violates the Popping Code of Conduct, or otherwise creates a dangerous environment, please report it immediately. Users and content can be reported directly in the Popping app.

 

 

Safety

 

Violence, terrorism, and/or violent extremism

The threat, promotion or glorification of violence, terrorism, or violent extremism is not allowed.

 

Suicide or self-harm

The promotion or encouragement of suicide or self-harming behavior is not allowed. 

 

If you are experiencing thoughts about hurting yourself, or have concerns that someone may be considering or engaging in self-harm, please contact the following resources in your area:

Child sexual exploitation:

The sharing of any content related to the sexual exploitation of children is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to sharing, linking to, promoting, or glorifying any media, text, illustrations, computer-generated images or other content that could be considered child sexual exploitation material. This policy considers a child a minor under the age of 18.

If you believe you have information regarding the sexual exploitation of a child, please contact your local authorities immediately.

 

 

Privacy

 

Sharing, threatening to share, or incentivizing someone else to share another user’s or person’s private information - publicly or privately - without their written consent using the Popping platform is not allowed. Private information includes but is not limited to personally identifiable information (PII), phone number(s), or email address or physical address(es). 

Criminal Activity 

 

All Popping users are expected to abide by any applicable laws, ordinances, or legal orders when engaging on the platform. 

 

The use of the Popping platform to facilitate or engage in criminal or unlawful activity, including commerce of illegal goods or services, is not permitted. 

 

Illegal or unlawful activity includes but is not limited to federal and state law as well as any laws or binding regulations that apply to your location or situation. 

 

If required by law, Popping will cooperate with any investigation where the use of the platform is involved. 

 

Mature and Graphic Content

 

Sexual Content:

Content that includes sexual violence, assault or pornographic content is not permitted. 

 

Violence and Death

Overly graphic content depicting or glorifying any of the following is not allowed: violence, gore, physical injury or assault, or death of humans or animals.

 

Illegal Activities:

Content displaying, promoting, or glorifying illegal activities or substances is not permitted. 

 

 

Respect

 

Popping is founded on the idea of building communities where users feel comfortable sharing their unique thoughts and experiences without fear of harm. While perspectives are positive drivers of conversation, Popping does not tolerate bullying and hateful conduct.

 

Abuse and Harassment:

Abusive conduct, including but not limited to cyberbullying, intimidation, posts wishing for physical harm to come to another, harassment, emotional abuse, grooming, sexting, sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation, is not permitted. 

 

Hateful Content:

Hate speech, hateful content, or any activity that promotes or condones - actively or passively - hate, bigotry, racism, antisemitism, or violence is not permitted. 

 

Content that threatens, depicts, promotes, or glorifies harm - be it mental, emotional, or physical violence – is not allowed.

 

Hate speech includes but is not limited to harmful content relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation or gender.

 

Intellectual Property

 

Violation of others’ intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademark, and patent, on or using the Popping platform is not allowed. You can learn more about our Intellectual Property Rights Policy by visiting www.popping.social/ip.

 

 

Fraud

 

Deception and Spam

Spam and deception are not allowed on Popping. This includes but is not limited to: posting, sharing, or promoting deceptive content or experiences, impersonating users, hubs, organizations, or businesses, artificially amplifying or suppressing content, or otherwise manipulating or disrupting users’ experience. Augmented or manipulated content that is intended or likely to cause harm or deception is not permitted. 

 

Civic Interference:  

Using the Popping platform to interfere with civic processes or elections by posting, sharing, or promoting content that may be misleading or that may suppress participation is not allowed. 

 

Cyber Attacks

Cyber attacks on, against, or using the Popping platform are not allowed. This includes but is not limited to hacking or the introduction of malware or viruses. 

 

 

Advertising & Business Promotion

 

Businesses are an important part of the Popping community, and community engagement that is anti-competitive or harmful to or by the business community is not permitted.

 

Advertising:

Advertising is a marketing communication that leverages a sponsored message to promote or sell a product, service or idea. 

 

All sponsored content must be clearly disclosed as such. Suitable methods include the use, within the main content, of one of the following hashtags: “ad”, “advertising”, or “sponsored”.

 

Deceptive advertising and spam, including but not limited to excessive promotion to a user or hub, is not permitted. 

 

The sharing of third-party advertising on this platform without written consent from Popping is not permitted. 

 

Anti-competitive Practices

 

Anti-competitive actions are those that seek to damage or prevent the success of another business. 

 

While individual users are free to share reviews, experiences, compliments and criticisms of businesses on Popping, other businesses may not participate in anti-competitive practices.

 

Business-on-business anti-competitive practices include but are not limited to a business proactively posting self-promotional, harassing, or threatening content on another business’ hub. 

 

 

Hub Creation

 

To enable conversation in all places where people share life, Popping users have the ability to create hubs. 

 

Hubs must be created based on physical locations, such as neighborhoods, parks, business establishments, and gathering places. 

 

Hubs based on virtual locations, such as an online retailer, and fictitious hubs, are not permitted. 

 

Hubs representing a single person or an individual person or family’s residence are not permitted. For example, a hub may be created for an apartment building as a whole but cannot be created for any one unit within that building. 

 

Enforcement of Code of Conduct & Consequences

 

These rules are in place to establish the standards and expectations of participation on the Popping platform. 

 

Final decisions related to violations will also be influenced by additional factors, including but not limited to context, user history, and content origin. 

 

There may be instances where these factors lead to a decision that a violation has not been made. 

 

Consequences of violation of these rules can range and include but are not limited to the user’s content being labeled, censored or removed, an account or username being frozen, suspended, disabled, deactivated or deleted, the user being banned from the platform, and/or the user being reported to the appropriate legal authorities. 

 

Should you be found in violation of these rules, you will be notified of the violation and consequence. Upon notification, you will have the opportunity to appeal the decision made directly with Popping. All final decisions regarding content removal, account suspension or termination are at the discretion of Popping.
